President of China Industrial Design Association, Founder of World Industrial Design Conference, President of the National Industrial Design Institute in Intelligent Manufacturing, and President of Global Design Industry Organization, receiving the doctoral degree in design from Nanjing University of the Arts.
From 1996 to 2011, he has successively served as the general manager of Haier Industry Design Center, the director of Haier Technology Center, the global marketing director of Haier Digital Product Group, and the deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Digital Appliances of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Liu is the President of the China Industrial Design Association and has served in the Association since 2011. He is committed to the building of international and national industrial design platforms, serving for the national innovation-driven strategy, enterprise transformation and upgrading, and high-quality economic and social development. He has remarkable achievements in the research of national industrial design development strategies and international design frontier theories, the integrated development of industrial design and industry, the development of enterprise industrial design innovation system, intelligent manufacturing and industrial internet.
He initiated the establishment of the World Industrial Design Conference, the Global Design Industry Organization, and the National Industrial Design Institute in Intelligent Manufacturing, organized the National Industrial Design Leading Talents Training and competence certification for national industrial design talents, and led the Design for Poverty Alleviation and Rural Revitalization. He served as the design team leader of a key project of 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games - “Wax Truck”, representing an independent Chinese design that is “gap-filling” and “world-leading”. He also led the design and research in national key projects such as the rocket launcher of CAS Space. As a PI or main researcher, he has successively completed National High-tech R&D Program (863 Program), National Science and Technology Support Program and about 30 national projects of National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. He is also engaged in the studies, advising and consultation of national strategic planning and policies including Made in China 2025, 13th Five-year Plan and 14th Five-year Plan, and participates in the formulation of four international and national standards. He owns 152 patents and establishes his impact in the field of the global industrial design.
