HAO Liang

Position: Professor

Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor of the School of Design at Southern University of Science and Technology. He received B.S. and Masters from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He was a Senior Lecturer and Ph.D. supervisor at the University of Exeter in the U.K. He was appointed as an Overseas High-Level Expert Talent in Hubei province, Industrial Professor of Practice, Leader of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Team. He served as the Vice Dean of the School of Jewelry and set up the Advanced Manufacturing Team at China University of Geosciences, Wuhan. During his time in the U.K, he led/participated in over 3 million pounds of research projects, supported by the U.K Engineering and Physical Sciences Fund, the Science and Technology Development Agency, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the European Union, and corporations. Prof. HAO developed the world’s first lightweight metal-augmented titanium alloy components, which were tested in aerospace flights. After returning to China, he has led three general program projects of the National Natural Fund of China (NSFC), one international cooperation and exchange program, a sub-project of the National Key Research Program and the Innovation Team supported by the Ministry of Education (MOE). He has published more than 100 papers in foreign and domestic core journals and important conferences and has been granted 12 invention patents and written 4 books in English. His current interdisciplinary research interests include advanced manufacturing, intelligent design, functional materials and digital economy.
